Cuando en 2013 empezamos a tener noticias del proyecto de mina de oro en Corcoesto, en plena Costa da Morte, se nos encendió la luz de alarma. Se trataba de una explotación a cielo abierto con tratamiento de cianuro, una de las técnicas mineras más agresivas de las practicadas en el mundo.

Una estrategia empresarial opaca, una política entreguista, una población deprimida económicamente y polarizada en torno a un sí o no a la mina, la alarma ecologista y un activismo vecinal urgente y efectivo que conseguió lo que no se preveía: parar la mina. Todo esto inspiró la realización de Tesouro de Corcoesto, un largometraje documental de producción independiente, respaldado por el micromecenazgo de 180 personas y asociaciones.
